The Clinical Neurophysiology published an article about threshold tracking method. Its authors are famous scientists from Australia — Matthew Kiernan and Steve Vucic, as well as engineers and medical specialists of Neurosoft Michael Babaev, Anna Maslyukova and Anatoly Muravyov.
The article compares the methods used in neurophysiology to assess the cortical motor function of the brain. A particular focus is placed on a method called Threshold tracking. This method allows to determine not only the change in the amplitude, but also the necessary intensity of the test stimulus to obtain the MEP of a given amplitude.
Threshold tracking is used to evaluate the absolute and relative reliability of short-interval intracortical inhibition (SICI) detection. This technique was developed as a unique biomarker for various diseases, including ALS and dementia.
There was no ready-made solution that could effectively implement this task previously. This is now possible with the help of the Neuro-MS magnetic stimulator and a special version of the Neuro-MEP.NET software.
