The team from National Research Mordovia State University (Saransk, Russia) led by Tatiana Vlasova, MD, won the “Step Up” research project competition in “Neuromodulation” category. Their project is devoted to the examination of patients with gonarthrosis - a chronic knee joint disease, which, according to WHO estimates, will become one of the main causes of disability in the coming years. The team's work will help understand whether transcranial micropolarization techniques will be effective in reducing pain in patients.
A transcranial electrical stimulator Neurostim has been installed at the university's clinical base at the Republican Hospital to conduct the study.
