IOM Workshops in Brasil
On 4 and 5 February, 25 doctors gathered in Neurosoft do Brasil auditorium to get an insight into the principles of intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring (IOM). The workshops were presented by Dr. Paulo Kimaid, who gains 4-year experience in this area and has been using Neurosoft devices in his work lately.
This event is the first of 2 meetings whose goal is to stimulate doctors to qualify and meet the growing demand for IOM services. Dr. Kimaid presented 20 workshops during 12 hours of meeting that broached from basics of neurophysiology applied at IOM to details of the most common techniques used in the operating room: somatosensory and motor evoked potentials with peripheral, cortical or epidural registration, root and nerve monitoring, cortex mapping, IV ventricular stimulation and others.
Dr. Kimaid presented data acquired with Neurosoft devices and praised a lot the excellent quality of signal he obtained in the operating room and also the initiative of Neurosoft to organize the meeting and develop a well designed and fine-working IOM commutator following his request.
The second meeting will focus on more practical aspects of the procedure and we are sure that again our audience will be full of interested doctors.
